Genius hour 2.3

This week I got back on track with my action plan! I was disappointed with myself for falling off-track last week so for this week I tried to fold two different designs. I have gotten into the habit of folding hearts before I start to get into the right headspace, after memorizing those steps I am able to just zone out while folding that project. This was one of my hopes for this project and am very glad that I am becoming able to start just automatically completing the folds.
The first new design that I folded this week was a dragon. I had talked to one of my friends about doing this project and he requested that I make a dragon for him. I ended up finding a video on YouTube to follow. While watching the video I was pausing and replaying parts very frequently. I felt a little bit defeated once I realized how often I was having to go back and fix a fold that I had made, but I was able to remind myself that this was the first time that I was attempting this fold and be more okay with stopping so much. It didn't turn out great, but I tried my best and you can kind of tell what it is supposed to be so I am proud of it.

The second thing that I folded was a grasshopper. Quest requested this one and it was way easier to fold than the dragon was.  Again while folding this project I found a video. I had to pause and replay it, but not nearly as much as I had to do while folding the dragon. I think that this one turned out much better than the dragon where looks are concerned , but it was also easier to fold so I will consider both projects a win.

  1. Wow that all looks really impressive! Also sounds pretty relaxing. What other things are you planning on making with origami?
