Genius Hour 2.6: The List Post
Typically I wait to do my origami at school and then I write my posts when I get home. However, this week I ended up folding my origami for the week at home. I think that I prefer folding at home and saving my class time to work on my blog. Here I have compiled a list of reasons.
1. Time
For me the time that we had during class didn’t seem to be enough to fold some of the things that I wanted to. When I made the bunny that I completed this week I didn’t feel rushed. I think that not having a restricted amount of time really helped me to slow down and focus on what I was doing. In addition to that I definitely felt more relaxed folding at home, without a set ending time, than I have in the classroom.
2. Comfort
I’m not going to lie, for this week I ended up doing all of my folding while laying in bed and watching Netflix. I honestly think that being somewhere comfortable where I really didn’t have to focus on anything but my folding helped a lot. I really enjoyed being able to just completely lose myself in my folding.
3. Alone time
Being able to sit alone while I did this project seemed to help me immensely. I was able to just focus on what I was doing and how I felt about the project. I ended up starting over on this particular project a few times before I got an end result that I was proud of. Being alone helped me to only focus on what I was thinking about what I was making.
In the future I will remember this list of pros to practicing not only my folding but anything else I decided to work on at home. Being alone helps me to better focus on the task that I am trying to complete. While being around other helps me to joke around and not be so hard on myself, being alone lets me more accurately judge me work. While harshly judging what I do is something that I’m trying to stop, I think that every once in a while I need to really judge what I am doing in order to accurately asses my progress.

This is a really helpful list of the advantages of doing origami at home. Do you get more done working on it at home rather then at school?
